STILLS FROM FILM
After reading the script I collected an inspiration board for set design and clothing.
Inspirations include: HLA Jeans Winter 2018 Lookbook, Photographer Jean Yves Lemoigne, Photographer Carlos Serrao’s Nike Tech Pack series, RuPaul’s Drag Race, city alleys, Friedemann Vogel photographed by Younsik Kim, vintage streetwear, ASOS, and various portrayals of leopard print.
I collaborated with the director to plan the color transitions between scenes to parallel Troy’s energy and emotions.
Sketches of color map next to shot of location (Lips Drag Queen Show Palace Restaurant & Bar).
I chose a bright purple to be the main lighting color to be ambiguous about gender.
I then worked with the DPs to plan a shot list, stage camera angles, and work with Troy on choreography.
Responsible for designing props, I sourced boxes and clothes from trash piles and carefully arranged the leopard pants in the mix.
